Hart, Oceana County seat, is a picturesque city surrounded by Lakes Hart and John Gurney, both of which can be seen from a hill or from the Veterans Park. It is home to the National Asparagus Festival and the Oceana County Fair. Like most cities and towns in Michigan, Hart offers the most favorable of the two worlds for travelers – the pristine beauty of nature combined with all modern comforts and conveniences. The National Asparagus Festival held every two years in Hart (alternately with Shelby), and the city is mighty proud to be the third largest producer of asparagus in the country (second place behind California and Washington. It is considered the main summer event in the Silver Lake area, which Hart is a part of. Visitors can expect fireworks, a parade of asparagus Royale, Joe Foster Golf Open, an arts and crafts fair, a 5K race / walk (called, quite convincingly, "Spear It "), a food program and more asparagus. It is not necessary to love asparagus so you can enjoy this festival, but is highly recommended to be as fit as you can in the preparation of all the fun activities involved!
Silver Lake Sand Dunes is the only area in Michigan, where you can drive directly on the dunes. Road vehicles (ORVs) may be rented, so it is a unique kind of adventure that the whole family can enjoy. The off-road vehicle area is open each year from 1 April to 31 October. If you wish to explore the dunes at a slower pace, there are 1200 acres available for hikers. Walking through the dunes, you might even see some fulgurites, which are "natural carrot-shaped glass tubes of" (definition and more information available online!
We can not talk Michigan one of the city, not to mention the beaches, right? Hart and Silver Lake / Mears area boasts of some well known and hidden treasures of beaches – perfect for an interlude romantic, a great marriage moments with family and friends, or just very necessary that R & R. The options range from intimate and secluded beach, easily accessible and fully equipped with modern amenities. Do not forget to visit the Silver Lake State Park Camping Beach, Silver Lake State Park ORV area of the beach (which is only accessible by driving off-road vehicle), John Gurney Park (one of their most precious secrets Hart), and a number of other options "sand".
A few miles away in Rothbury, you can find the famous Double JJ Ranch & Golf Resort (which is, incidentally, also the home of Rothbury Festival). This resort has with an extensive water park covering 60,000 square meters (equipped with the highest indoor slides across western Michigan), horse riding, facilities fishing, an 18-hole course (Golf Club thoroughbred that extends over 240 acres and has 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest, and the name "One of the Top 100 Women-Friendly Courses in America "by Golf for Women), and a host of other adventures to choose from, all year long! Not sure where to stay in Hart? A good start would be to take a deep breath, relax, then ask yourself the most important question – "what it's my priority? "That first big step taken, it is known that Hart offers a range of accommodation options to choose from. If you want to be in the center of activity, try to check the ski resorts in the area. If you prefer most of the comforts and modern amenities, try searching the list of hotels and motels. Or are you looking for more outdoor activities, most of the "real thing" with the freedom to stay and go as you want? The camps and RV in this area are safe and well equipped options then.
One last thing to remember though that where the stay is only a small part of enjoying your holiday … It's how you stay, or more specifically how you decide to spend your vacation, you decide how your trip is. So, go have a great time!
